The solidification sequences in aluminum containing 8 and 16 wt pct iron are described in terms of the formation of metastable and stable primary intermetallic phases. These alloys were studied in the chill-cast and splat-quenched conditions, and marked differences in microstructure due to the different cooling rates were observed. Contrary to previous work, it is proposed that the nm Cited by: consisted of mixed phases of α−Al 13 (Fe, V) 3 Si 1, and Al 8 Fe 4 Mm. Only Al 8 Fe 4 Mm phase was observed in the microstructure for x = 1, whereas quasi-crystalline Al 20 Fe 5 Mm phase was identified for x = 3. In this investigation, results of microstructural characterisation of the rapidly solidified Al-Fe-(V, Si) alloy powders are File Size: KB. The alloying additions of the AA introduce significant complexity into the evolution of the interaction between U Mo and Al-alloys. Diffusion couples of U 7Mo, U 10Mo, and U 12Mo vs. AA were annealed at °C for 24 h and at °C for 1, 5, and 20 by: 3. Nanostructured Al 93 Fe 3 Ti 2 Cr 2 alloys were prepared via mechanical alloying (MA), followed by extrusion to form bulk materials. The microstructure of the alloy was characterized using a variety of analytical instruments including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

The microstructure and magnetic properties of alnico 8 alloys have been investigated in this paper. It was found that the coarse β phase (FeSiAl5) platelets, which form during solidification of alloys containing Fe, are replaced by “Chinese script” α(bcc) [(Cr, Fe)4Si4Al13] dendritic particles when Cr is by: ELSEVIER Materials Science and Engineering A () ~'lnllilliS A Microstructural stability of rapidly quenched A1-Fe-Mo alloys K.
